Bye-elections in Andhra Pradesh, Goa, NCT of Delhi on 23rd August 2017

Election Commission of India announced bye elections in State Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Goa and NCT of Delhi recently. ECI or Election Commission of India also released Model Code of Conduct for these bye elections. Further it released complete schedule for these elections. ECI also told all voters to be prepared to cast their vote.

Bye elections in State Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Goa and NCT of Delhi

There are vacancies in State Legislative Assemblies of some states. And this is the reason for these bye elections to be held. While earlier there were bye elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland State Legislative Assemblies.

On other hand ECI or Election Commission conducted Presidential elections in India. Wherein Mr. Ram Nath Kovind emerged winner by more than 60% votes.

Assembly seats for bye elections

There are four assembly seats which will head to polls. And these are Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh, Bawana in Delhi, Valpoi and Panaji in Goa. ECI also informed people that it is better if they check their names in Voters list. In this way there will not be any problem for every individual.

Use of EVMs

In addition ECI decided to use VVPATs and EVMs in these bye elections. While these polling machines will be in all polling stations. Election Commission of India in a statement said that there are many EVMs in polling stations.

It is also taking every precaution to make this election comfortable for every person. In this way ECI of India is planning for bye elections in three State Legislative Assemblies.

Identification of all voters

The Election Commission of India also made plans for different things which happen during elections. And one of them is use of Voter ID card. And now ECI made Voter ID or EPIC (Electoral Photo Identity Card) compulsory.

So if you do not have this card then it is better that you apply for Voter ID card online or offline. In case your name is there in voters list then you can also vote but authorities will take some more steps. It is so because this method helps to decrease illegal practises.

You may need to provide some other identification documents so that you cast your vote. Hence it is best if you carry some more identification documents with you. This is especially when you are going to elect leaders during bye elections.

Further Election Commission of India started special drive. This drive is to enrol electors. You can now submit Form 6 of Voter ID card easily. So that you participate in bye elections in Andhra Pradesh, NCT of Delhi and Goa in India.
